1. Information We Collect

BuyNearMe ("we," "us," or "our") collects personal information to provide our local business directory service across Jammu & Kashmir.

User Accounts

• Email address (required for signup and login)
• Password (hashed, never stored in plain text)
• Full name (optional)
• Profile information you choose to share

Business Owners

• Business name, description, and address
• Phone number and WhatsApp contact
• Email address
• Website URL
• Business hours and price range
• Photos and media uploads (if provided)
• Geographic coordinates for map display

Payment Data (Razorpay)

• Payment details are processed by Razorpay, not stored by BuyNearMe. We only store:
• Order ID and payment status (paid/pending)
• Transaction amount and date
• Featured listing duration

Automatically Collected

• IP address and browser type
• Pages visited and time spent
• Referrer information

2. How We Use Your Information

• Account Management: Create and maintain your account, enable login, password recovery
• Business Directory: Display your business listing publicly so customers can find you
• Payments: Process featured listing orders via Razorpay; send payment receipts
• Communication: Email you order confirmations, approval/rejection notifications, and support responses
• Moderation: Review listings and claims for spam, abuse, or policy violations
• Analytics: Understand which businesses and categories are popular (anonymized)
• Legal Compliance: Respond to legal requests, enforce our Terms of Service

3. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

We share data with:

• Razorpay: Payment processor for featured listings. They collect payment method details (card, UPI, etc.). See Razorpay's Privacy Policy.
• Resend: Email service provider. We send account confirmations and order receipts through them. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: Database provider (PostgreSQL). See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Legal/Law Enforcement: If required by law or court order in India.

4. Data Retention

• Active Accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
• Deleted Accounts: Upon request, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where required by law.
• Business Listings: When a listing is deleted or suspended, associated data is archived for legal/tax purposes for up to 7 years.
• Payment Records: Razorpay and Resend maintain their own retention policies (typically 7 years for compliance).

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
• Passwords are hashed (one-way encryption)
• Row-Level Security (RLS) on the database — you can only see/edit your own data
• Payment card data is never stored by us — Razorpay handles it
• Regular security updates to our infrastructure

However, no system is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately at privacy@buynearme.in.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data through your account or by contacting us
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format (CSV, JSON)
• Withdraw Consent: Stop receiving promotional emails by clicking "unsubscribe" or contacting us

7. Children's Privacy

BuyNearMe is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we discover we have, we will delete it immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or by posting a notice on the site. Continued use of BuyNearMe after changes constitutes acceptance.
